Honouring two of our interviewees

This week we were so happy to celebrate the achievements and milestones of two of our interviewees.


On Wednesday May 26th we celebrated the 95th birthday of composer Joseph Horovitz,best known for his cantata Captain Noah & His Floating Zoo. Joseph has written theme music for many films & TV shows including Rumpole of the Bailey as well as many celebrated ballet scores and brass & string music. Watch our short film about Joseph:



Here he is being awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Music by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, 1982:



Kurt Marx BEM was awarded The Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Kurt was presented with the medal at a small dinner with the German Ambassador and the ambassador's wife, along with Kurt's son, daughter-in-law & grandchildren.

Kurt was honoured for his work in Holocaust Education. He came to the UK on a Kindertransport in 1939. Here is Kurt from our film Voices For a Better World:
